Senior Adviser, Nordic Council of Ministers
Torfi Jóhannesson is a senior adviser at the Nordic Council of Ministers dealing with policy development in bioeconomy and plant genetic resources. Also leading the Policy Area Bioeconomy within the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. Previous work experiences include agricultural and rural development in the Ministry of Industries and Innovation in Iceland, negotiations with the EU when Iceland was an active candidate country in 2008-2013 and associate professorship at the Agricultural University of Iceland. Torfi holds a MSc in animal science and a PhD degree with focus on animal welfare assessment and ethical accounting for agriculture from the University of Copenhagen.
