Deputy Director-General, Bioeconomy Coordinator, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry
Dr Liisa Saarenmaa is the Deputy Director-General of the Natural Resources Department at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland, as well as the Bioeconomy Coordinator for the whole Ministry. In 2003-2008 she worked as the Counsellor of Forestry and Head of the Unit for State Forests and Forest Research. In 2000-2002 she was the Director of the Research Programme on the Sustainable Use of Natural Resources at the University of Helsinki. She was a member of the board of the European Forest Institute in 2003-2010. She has been a member of the Board of the Nordic Forest Research Co-operation from 2000 and a member of the steering group of the Scandinavian Journal of Forest Research from 2001. She graduated as Doctor of Science (Agriculture and Forestry) from the University of Helsinki in 1992.
