President, World Resources Forum (WRF), Switzerland

Dr Xaver Edelmann has studied physics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH in Zurich, Switzerland. From 1974 on he has held several positions in the Corporate Research Department of Sulzer Brothers Limited, Winterthur Switzerland. In the first years of his activities at Sulzer Xaver Edelmann was preparing his doctoral thesis for which he received 1985 the PhD of ETH.

From 1985-1986 he was consultant at the Nondestructive Evaluation Center of the Electric Power Research Institute, EPRI, in Charlotte, NC, USA.
For outstanding contributions in the field of nondestructive testing he was awarded with the Berthold Award of the German Society for Nondestructive Testing, DGZfP, in 1986. He is Honorary Member of the Swiss Association for Nondestructive Testing, SGZP.

Back at Sulzer Brothers Limited he was holding several management positions.
From June 1991 until August 2013 he was Member of the Board of Executive Directors at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research, EMPA.
From 1991 on he was Vice-President of the Swiss Association for Standardization, SNV, from 1997 to 2006 its President. He is Honorary Member of SNV.
Since 2003 he is President of the Swiss Association for Quality and Management Systems, SQS.

He is Member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, SATW and Head of the SATW topical platform “Resources and Sustainability”.

He is founder and President of the World Resources Forum, WRF.
