THE 2ND KOLI FORUM ON 14 - 16 SEPTEMBER

The second Koli Forum is to take place on 14-16 of September 2011 in Koli National Park, Finland.

The Koli Forum is an intensive, informal and open-minded discussion platform for eminent European leaders from the spheres of business, politics and science. The Koli Forum focuses on the responsible and innovative use of natural resources and the competitive growth of bioeconomy. The main focus is on forest-based resources.

THE CHAIRMAN OF THE IPPC CONFIRMS HIS PARTICIPATION

The quality of the programme will be guaranteed by the presence of leading experts as keynote speakers.

Dr Rajendra Kumar Pachauri, Chairman of the IPCC, the Intergovernmental panel on climate change, and

Mr Dacian Cioloş, Commissioner of Agriculture and Rural Development, European Commission - have already confirmed their participation in the Koli Forum.

THE KOLI FORUM ON EUROPE 2020

This year the Koli Forum will take into account Europe 2020 strategy in particular, and the work of the United Nations Panel for Sustainable Development. It is therefore entitled "The Koli Forum on Europe 2020: Resources for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth – Renewable forests and bioenergy". The special themes of the sessions are innovation and education, sustainable (bio)economy and renewable bioenergy.

ADVISORY BOARD

The Chair of the Advisory Board is Dr Pekka Hallberg, President of the Supreme Administrative Court of Finland. The Administrative Board consists of Finnish political decision-makers and representatives of business, industry, the scientific community and NGOs.

STEERING COMMITTEE

Dr Pentti Hyttinen, Docent (forest management and economics), Regional Mayor of North Karelia, serves as Chair of the Steering Committee.
