WRF IN CHINA ON 21-23 OCTOBER
The World Resources Forum (WRF) conference is the flagship activity of the World Resources Forum Secretariat. It is a bi-annual global conference, to be held in Davos, Switzerland, with regional events in the years between.
WRF 2012 will be held at China National Convention Center (Beijing) on October 21-23, 2012. Main theme of this forum is Resources and Green Economy.
The WRF 2012 provide a platform to exchange knowledge about scientific, technological, economic, political and environmental implications. It aims to promote innovation for resource productivity and utilization by building bridges among researchers, policymakers, business, NGO’s and the general public. The WRF 2012 is the first WRF conference held outside Switzerland event. We invite you to participate in the exciting event.
The Steering Committee of the WRF has decided to focus the discussions on
the main topic: Resources and Green Economy
This first World Resources Forum outside of Switzerland will be held in the prestigious China National Convention Centre, next to the Olympic Stadium "Bird's Nest", from 21-23 October 2012, and is organised with the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The overall theme is "Resources and Green Economy" and it will be the first major conference about this subject after the upcoming Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, which will be held in June this year (Rio+20). The conference will have plenary sessions, side events, workshops, scientific oral sessions, youth program, online voting, fieldtrips, a conference banquet, and an exhibition. Early registration has already been opened on the special WRF 2012 website.
WORD RESOURCES FORUM INVITES TO DAVOS
The Koli Forum and the World Resources Forum (WRF) are working together. Messages from the Koli Forum will be presented at WRF by Koli Forum Secretary General, Professor Liisa Tahvanainen. Koli Forum participants can now register for the World Resources Forum (WRF) 2011. It will be held in Davos, Switzerland, from 19-21September.
The World Resources Forum will bring together high-level politicians and world-renowned scientists to discuss the causes of environmental and sustainability problems linked to global resources use. Analyses and solutions to boost resource productivity and innovation will be presented and questioned in a multidisciplinary setting.
Confirmed politicians include Achim Steiner (Under Secretary General of the United Nations and Executive Director of UNEP), Dr Janez Potočnik (European Commissioner for the Environment) and Dr Alice Kaudia (Environment Secretary, Kenya).
Among the scientists are Prof. Dr Marina Fischer-Kowalski (President, International Society for Industrial Ecology), Dr Ernst Ulrich von Weizsaecker (Chair, International Resource Panel), Prof. Dr Mohan Munasinghe (University of Manchester, UK), and Prof. Dr Marc Swilling (Sustainability Institute, South Africa).
