KOLI FORUM IN A NUTSHELL

WHAT?
The Koli Forum is a new top-level initiative to establish a new discussion forum on natural resources. Topics of the Koli Forum are related to natural resources and range from the availability of raw materials and their economic use, to environmental aspects and competitiveness of Europe.

WHERE?
The venue of the Koli Forum is the Koli National Park in Eastern Finland.

WHEN?
The 3rd Koli Forum will take place on 17th-19th September 2013. The third KoliForum is titled FORESTS AND WATER - The key Resources for sustainable and competitive bioeconomy.
The 2nd Koli Forum took place on 14th-16th September 2011
. KoliForum 2011 will execute the Europe 2020 strategy and was titled “Koli Forum on Europe 2020: Resources for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth – Renewable forest and bioenergy”. The first Koli Forum on “Natural Resources – Solutions to Questions of Renewable Energy and the Mitigation of Climate Change” took place from 22-24 October 2009. 

WHO IS IT FOR?
The Koli Forum brings together eminent European leaders from the spheres of business, science, politics and culture. The Forum is an exclusive event, with no more than one hundred invited participants.

OBJECTIVE
The aim of the Koli Forum is to serve as a forward-looking, informal discussion platform for European and global leaders. The objective is to search out the best solutions for a future that takes into consideration both the potential and the limitations of natural resources.

EXPECTED RESULTS
The Koli Forum aims to formulate feasible solutions – The Theses of Koli – to be implemented at local, national and European levels. Through the results the Forum aims to influence the decision-makers who shape our common future.
